At Michico, product sourcing and procurement (or purchasing) are two closely linked but distinct phases that ensure a project’s design vision is realized through the right materials, furnishings, and fixtures.
Through product sourcing, Michico Designs researches, identifies and acquires the furnishings, fixtures, materials, and accessories needed for a project. It involves determining the exact pieces, reviewing product options (such as finishes, textures, dimensions, and colors), and identifying one or more vendors or suppliers who can provide them all at the best price points and qualities. This stage focuses on finding the right products that match the client’s style, budget, and functional requirements, while also considering quality, sustainability, and delivery timelines.
In the procurement phase, Michico Designs will specify, order and manage all selected products. Thisphase includes budget tracking based on client selections, comparing prices, reviewing and approving final product specifications, and placing orders. Procurement also covers logistics coordination, ensuring items are delivered on time and within budget, and handling any changes or issues that may arise during the ordering process.
At Michico, we pay close attention to important details like price, value, length of service, and why it’s unique. Together, sourcing and procurement ensure that our interior design projects stay on schedule, within budget, and aligned with the client’s vision, while minimizing risks such as delays, cost overruns, or mismatched items.
Michico provides active monitoring, coordination, and quality control of the installation phase to ensure that all design elements are executed exactly as planned, meeting specifications, timelines, and client expectations.
In practice, this means the interior designer or project manager is not just responsible for the creative concept but also for overseeing the physical execution of the project. This includes:
Regular visits to the project site to verify that work aligns with the approved design drawings, color schemes, materials, and layout
Managing communication between design teams, contractors, manufacturers, and clients to avoid misalignment or delays
Ensuring craftsmanship, material accuracy, and adherence to technical details such as ceiling heights, wall placements, lighting fixtures, and furniture positioning
Addressing issues that arise during installation, such as material substitutions, delivery timing conflicts, or spatial constraints, while preserving the design intent
Using our business intelligence and analytics to track progress, predict potential bottlenecks, and optimize scheduling and cost management
The goal of installation oversight is to prevent deviations from the design and to ensure that the final result is a seamless, cohesive, and high-quality realization of the interior design concept.
